What is bureaucracy? according to wikipedia bureaucracy is "is the structure and set of regulations in place to control activity, usually in large organizations and government. As opposed to adhocracy, it is represented by standardized procedure (rule-following) that dictates the execution of most or all processes within the body, formal division of powers, hierarchy, and relationships."
In my own words bureaucracy is a organized structure that is controlled by levels of hierarchy. Many of these members that hold positions within organization that are set up with a bureaucracy is less concerned with people and more concerned with getting the job done. It is structured to follow very rigid guidelines, policies and procedures. Most bureaucrats are hired into their position while in a democracy it is up the people and they decide who will be in certain positions.
I believe that DMV is set up like a bureaucracy because most of the people employed at these centers go by a very strict line of rules and regulations. They are also some of the worst social skills ever. They act like that because they know that their job security is not based off of how they treat you it's off of what rules they do and don't follow. When I called to find out some info concerning my car I contacted a very rude lady who was not listening to a word I had to say. She just kept telling me what she couldn't do instead of listening to my concern and trying to help me out. If I would have call an organization where their job depended on how they treated me the conversation would have been way different.
